Calgary Core Contemporaries is delighted to announce our newest project:
Ballet Bodies

Co-directed and founded by Serenella Sol Argueta and Katharina Schier. Ballet Bodies is a ballet collective that aims to create a collaborative, positive and inclusive space for intermediate/advanced ballet dancers regardless of age, gender, or physique.

We are seeking a dedicated group of 14 brave dancers (18+) who want to train, improve and perform ballet during an 8 month period (October 9th 2020 - May 29th 2021*). At the end of May, all members of the collective have the opportunity to perform new choreographic works by guest choreographers and directors.

This project was born after we recognized a need in Calgary for more adult ballet training and performing opportunities. Furthermore, we want to provide a space for ballet lovers that centres passion, love and commitment to the art form over exterior expectations (of the body) and that challenges the traditional hierarchy that exists in ballet projects.

Our goal is to have a self-sufficient collective and although we are a not for profit collective, we are a tuition based project simply to cover the project costs. For more details, please read our full project description to understand our commitment to offering affordable high-level training and for full project details. Full project description and application please visit:

In addition, please feel free to contact with any questions or inquiries.

Application Deadline:September 20, 2020(12:00AM MST)

*All dates are subject to change depending on Provincial and Federal Covid-19 regulations.
